Figure 5.

R/ dapson (diafenylsulfon)100 mg (50-200 mg/dag).
R/ azathioprine 50-200 mg/dag (1-3 mg/kg/dag).
R/ prednison + cyclofosfamide 50-200 mg/dag (2 mg/kg/dag).
R/ prednison + azathioprine 50-200 mg/dag (1-3 mg/kg/dag).

This picture shows a denser distribution with a sharp demarcation caused by what is known as Koebner’s Phenomenon (Minor trauma, such as the elastic band in one’s sock, can cause such a pattern). Bij achteruitgang van de nierfunctie en bij crescentic nephritis kan behandeld worden met methylprednisolon pulsen en cyclofosfamide.

Schonlein-henoch purpura in children and adults: diagnosis, pathophysiology and management. Presently, the skin of his leg was all over full of bloody points” (purpura). The arthralgias are typically transient and non-destructive.

Central Nervous System

Central nervous system involvement is rare; however, when it occurs, patients may present with headaches, dizziness, ataxia, seizures, irritability, mononeuropathy, intracranial hemorrhage, or acute motor-sensory axonal neuropathy.[9]

Evaluation

The diagnosis of IgA vasculitis is made based on the presence of petechiae (without thrombocytopenia) or palpable purpura that predominantly affects the lower limbs plus at least one of the following four characteristics:[1]

  1. Abdominal pain

  2. Arthralgia or arthritis

  3. Renal involvement (proteinuria, red blood cell casts, or hematuria)

  4. Proliferative glomerulonephritis or leukocytoclastic vasculitis with predominant deposition of IgA on histology

Clinicians should order a urinalysis with microscopy to identify hematuria, proteinuria, or red blood cell casts.

2013 Dec;49(12):995-1003. Dapsone (100 mg/day) may be effective in cases of HSP, perhaps through disrupting the abnormal immune response. The young boy suffered all four disease hallmarks of HSP: arthritis, gastrointestinal involvement, kidney inflammation, and purpura. Arm rash . This image shows what the lining of the bowel could look like when it is inflamed and swollen, as in HSP.

Looks painful…it is.
